How to burn incense?
It sounds so incredibly self-evident, like something everything knows. Lighting incense. You light the little stick and that’s it, then you enjoy the smell. But no, there’s a little more behind it. To get the best result out of your incense, but there are a few tricks to keep in mind. Besides, there are multiple kinds of incense. Every kind of incense works just a little differently, plus for some of the kinds you need some extra accessories. Therefore, in this blog, we will explain the basics to successfully lighting incense.
Incense sticks and cones
The most common kind of incense are the sticks, with the cones following behind them in second place. When buying incense sticks, try to purchase sticks without a wooden base. Massive sticks without wood inside have a less complex odor, as there are no underlying tones of burned wood. Also, make sure you have good incense holder. Putting your incense stick or cone inside of a plant pot is not always the safest and most practical option, so an incense holder is a useful alternative. Whenever you’re ready, light the tip of your incense and hold it into a flame for about 10 seconds. Then blow out the flame on your incense, but make sure that it’s smoldering. Now put your incense into its holder, until it’s burned out after about 20 or 30 minutes.
Palo Santo and white sage
Besides regular incense, there’s also Palo Santo and white sage. They’re a kind of incense, meant to cleanse areas and expel negative energy. Both Palo Santo and white sage are lighted at the tip, just like normal incense. After that, you simply let it smolder, preferable in a holder or bowl. When it’s lighted well, you can use the Palo Santo or white sage to cleanse rooms and get rid of negativity, or simply leave it wherever you want until it’s gone.
Always pay attention to safety when using incense. The incense sticks keeps burning for a while. Use safe, good incense holders and always stay in the same room until the incense burns out.
